Hi I am a Survivor of Clinical Depression who met Mentoring Minds Counsellors onMarch 2024and this isMy Story.I am an 29 year old male residing at Mumbai and diagnosed with Clinical Depression in the year2022, before I start my story do you know what a Depression actually feels like?Depression can feels like a heavy, unshakable fog that seeps into every corner of your life, making even the smallest tasks seem extremely difficult to achieve. For those struggling, the path to recovery can feel elusive and fearful. However, every story is unique and motivate a few to help overcome from such a stressful event of life.My Struggle: A Glimpse into DarknessBeing aSOBO(South-Bombay) resident my life has always been seemed larger than life from outside with a stable job, a supportive family, and a close circle of friends. However, beneath the surface, I was grappling with a deep-seated depression that started during her late twenties. The signs weresubtle at first: a persistent feeling of sadness, a lack of energy, and an increasing sense of hopelessness. Over the time these feelings were intensified leading to severe anxiety and an almost debilitating sense of despair.“I was living in a constant state of numbness,” that I can recall. “It felt like I was stuck in a dark tunnel with no way out. I knew something was wrong, but I didn’t know where to turn.”The Turning Point: Seeking HelpMy turning point came when one of my close friend noticed the severity of her condition and gently encouraged me to seek help through Mentoring Minds Counsellors. Initially I still remember that I hesitant thinking how can I open up with all the important secrets of my life. But it was good that the things were always kept confidential through the Consent Form across us.”My First Session: The TherapyMy first session with Harsh was too dry as I kept resisting to open up across any possible questions that he would ask; as for me it was very important that the psychologist that would happen to cure me should have ample patients and what would I say that yes, “He did have patients“. During the second session I found him with the same intensity to offer help and this time I decided to open up with of the troubles of my, history, along with the childhood events of mine leading towards a traumatic childhood followed by losing my loved one. He initiated the CBT approach that helped me understand the thoughts and its functioning through evaluating possible symptoms of my reflex actions.“CBT helped me understand the connection between my thoughts, feelings, and behaviors,It taught me how to challenge negative thought patterns and develop healthier coping strategies.”My New Support NetworkIn addition to individual therapy,Harshencouraged me to build a new support network in addition to reconnecting with friends and family, joining a local support group, and practicing self-care routines which helped me to see the value in these connections and activities.“I learned that reaching out to others and accepting help wasn’t a sign of weakness,” I believe that, “It was a crucial part of my healing process.”My Journey of ImprovementsI started to understand gradual improvements across my way of thinking along with energy levels increased, my outlook on life became more positive, and I started to engage more fully in activities that I once enjoyed. It was a slow and sometimes challenging process, but each small victory contributed to my overall sense of well-being.My Hope and SuccessToday, I is feel at a much better place and I continue to visitHarshfor periodic check-ins and has incorporated many of the strategies that I learned through therapy into her daily life. Her experience with depression has not only made her more resilient but also more empathetic toward others facing similar struggles. If there’s one thing I want others to know, “It’s that seeking help is a sign of strength“. “With the right support and resources, recovery is not just possibleit’s something you can achieve.”My Smile is BackMy journey from the depths of depression to a place of healing underscores the profound impact that expert help can have. I believe my story would serve as a beacon of hope for anyone grappling with similar challenges, reminding us that professional support, combined with personal determination and a strong support network, can lead to a brighter, more fulfilling future. If you or someone you know is struggling, remember that reaching out for help I would suggestMentoring Minds Counsellorsshould be the first step toward reclaiming your life and finding the light at the end of the tunnel.Share this:TwitterFacebookLikeLoading…
